Getro Josselin, APRN

Getro Josselin, APRN, MPH, has dedicated his career to healthcare, drawing inspiration from a personal experience in his hometown of Oranger, Bainet, Haiti. Growing up in a village with limited access to medical care, Getro witnessed the severe impact of untreated illnesses. A pivotal moment occurred one night when his younger sister experienced a high fever and alarming symptoms. The intervention of a visiting nurse, who administered chloroquine to treat his sister for malaria, left a profound impression on Getro. This experience underscored the critical need for accessible healthcare and ignited his passion for medicine, with the goal of providing essential care to underserved communities.

Getro’s educational journey includes earning his MSN from Florida International University (FIU) and an MPH from the University of Miami (UM), along with being a foreign medical graduate from the University Notre Dame Haiti (UNDH). His dream of becoming a healthcare provider was realized with the support of Compassion International, which funded his medical education and enabled him to pursue his mission of reducing healthcare disparities.

Throughout his career, Getro has been a vocal advocate for healthcare equity, contributing his expertise across the USA and Haiti. He volunteered as a clinician during the 2008 tropical storms in Gonaives, Haiti, in partnership with Compassion International. In 2012, he collaborated with the University of Miami on initiatives to combat cervical cancer in Little Haiti and reduce maternal mortality in Plateau Central, Haiti. In 2014, he worked with the University of Notre Dame of Indiana on a project to eradicate lymphatic filariasis in Léogâne, Haiti.

Currently, Getro serves as a clinician at Florida Community Health Centers, where he focuses on increasing healthcare access in various communities. He partners with patients to help them make healthier lifestyle choices, guided by the principle that “to whom much is given, much is required.”

In his personal time, Getro enjoys playing soccer, going to the beach, and spending quality time with his two children, who have autism.
