Senior Staff Accountant
Position Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant (Revenue) assists the Assistant Controller/Director of Finance/Controller and CFO in maintaining detailed and accurate accounting of revenue transactions. This includes but is not limited to maintaining detailed account reconciliations, preparing adjusting journal entries for month-end financial reporting and collaborating with others on federal grants. Experience in healthcare revenue cycle management and grant accounting is necessary. This includes serving as part of the leadership team in the finance department with direct supervision of members of the Epic Payment Posting and Patient Refund Group.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for all revenue accounting, including maintaining monthly revenue account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries and financial account analys3s.
- Monitors patient-service revenue payments received from payers through designated clearinghouse(s), ensuring all transactions are captured accurately in Epic
- Manages all accounts receivables, bad debt and miscellaneous or system adjustment activities in Epic, ensuring they are accurately and completely reflected in month-end reports and captured in the GL.
- Reviews and evaluates AR reports from EPIC ensuring timely and appropriate balance transfers to the designated Collection Agency.
- Responsible for monitoring a select group of EPIC WQ’s and reporting associated trends in EPIC.
- Collaborates with the Director of RCM on tracking payment posting or related adjustment trends that may be occurring in Epic.
- Ensures all Capitation, Medicaid Wrap, Medicare Wrap and LIP revenue has been recorded in Epic as well as in the GL.
- Manages accounting for all in-house and 340b contract pharmacy revenue including reconciling transactions to subsidiary ledger systems either in-house or located with TPAs.
- Assists the Assistant Controller and Controller in performing pharmacy financial analyses including tracking volume and gross profit margin by drug classification
- Responsible for all programmatic and capital project grant accounting
- Collaborates with the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator on the personnel area of grant accounting
- Prepares periodic grant draw requests for the CFO to perform
- Supervises three individuals: Two (2) Epic payment posters and one (1) patient refund analyst
- Verifies that staff adhere to company and departmental policies and procedures
- Promptly reports any discrepancies or concerns to the Assistant Controller, Controller or CFO
- Supports the Assistant Controller and Controller in preparation for the annual financial statement audit and annual audit of grant funded programs.
- Assists the Director of Programs and Services with information requests required for periodic grant reporting

Secondary Duties:
- Assist in completion of Medicare/Medicaid cost reports, audit and tax work-paper packages, and annual UDS reports.
- Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts, budgets and ad hoc financial analyses, as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Requirements (experience, training, and education): To effectively fulfill this position, candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent work experience. Bachelor’s degree is preferable.
- Two years of accounting experience (preferably in the health care environment).
- Two years of experience in the medical office treasury environment
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency running and interpreting reports from electronic medical record systems (Experience in Epic is a plus)
- High Level of Proficiency in Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP is preferable.
- Attention to detail requiring a high degree of accuracy
