Florida Community Health Centers, Inc. (FCHC) proudly marks its 48th anniversary on June 14, celebrating nearly half a century of unwavering commitment to providing quality healthcare services to communities across Florida. Since its inception in 1976, FCHC has been a beacon of hope and wellness, offering comprehensive, accessible, and affordable healthcare to individuals and families, regardless of their financial status.
Over the past 48 years, FCHC has grown from a single clinic to a network of 14 health centers strategically located across six counties—Hendry, Glades, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie. The organization’s services encompass primary care, dental care, behavioral health, pediatrics, women’s health, pharmacy services, infectious disease, chiropractic care, and more, ensuring holistic care for all ages. This fall, FCHC is excited to announce the opening of the Port St. Lucie Senior and Adult Health Center, a new facility dedicated to meeting the unique healthcare needs of adults and seniors in the community. This expansion reflects FCHC’s mission to meet the evolving healthcare needs of diverse communities.
FCHC’s success is rooted in its community-oriented approach. By focusing on preventive care and health education, FCHC empowers patients to take control of their health. FCHC’s Outreach department actively collaborates with local organizations, schools, and businesses to promote health and wellness initiatives, reinforcing its role as a vital community partner.
“Forty-eight years ago, Florida Community Health Centers, Inc. (FCHC) was started to ensure that migrant and agricultural workers had access to health care. Today that mission remains, and has expanded to include providing high-quality, comprehensive, affordable primary and specialty care to everyone in our communities. Our staff is committed to making sure that everyone who comes through our doors is treated like family. We are proud of our legacy and excited about the future as we continue to provide prenatal, pediatric, adult, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, care management, enrollment services, and so much more. Every day we strive to be a valued community resource and live out the mission, vision, and values that have kept us strong for 48 years. We say to everyone in our community: we are here to serve. ‘Before birth and beyond, let our family take care of yours.’” – Dr. Wilhelmina Lewis, CEO of Florida Community Health Centers, Inc.
As FCHC celebrates this milestone, it reaffirms its commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services. FCHC remains dedicated to ensuring that high-quality healthcare is accessible and affordable for all members of the community.
