WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Florida Community Health Centers, Inc. (FCHC) has been recognized with four official proclamations from local governments across South Florida and the Treasure Coast, honoring the organization’s 50th anniversary of providing accessible, affordable health care to area communities.
The City of Fort Pierce, the City of West Palm Beach, Hendry County, and St. Lucie County each issued proclamations commending FCHC for five decades of service to families, agricultural and migrant workers, seniors, and underserved residents throughout the region.
FCHC’s milestone anniversary was marked on June 14, commemorating the organization’s founding in 1976 as a single health center focused on serving migrant and agricultural workers in Clewiston. Over the past 50 years, FCHC has grown into a network of 15 locations across six counties, offering a full range of services including primary care, pediatrics, dental care, behavioral health, women’s health, pharmacy, infectious disease care, and chiropractic services.
The proclamations recognize FCHC’s role as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and its continued commitment to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, including through its Sliding Fee Discount Program. Local officials also pointed to FCHC’s recent growth, including the opening of the Port St. Lucie Adult & Senior Health Center, which brought specialized care closer to home for adults and seniors in that community.
The local honors follow a string of national recognitions for FCHC, including 2025 Health Center Program awards for Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality and National Quality Leader distinctions in both behavioral health and diabetes care, along with continued recognition from the American Heart Association for blood pressure and cholesterol management.
“Fifty years. Countless lives impacted. One unwavering mission,” the organization said in marking the anniversary, noting that the celebration honors not only the milestone itself but the generations of providers, staff, patients and community partners who have shaped FCHC’s history.
FCHC officials say the four proclamations will be displayed at the organization’s corporate office and shared across its network of health centers as part of ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations throughout the year.
