To our Patients, Friends, and Community Partners:
Since 1976, Florida Community Health Centers, Inc. (FCHC) has been committed to providing Accessible, Cost Effective, High Quality, and Comprehensive Health Care to all persons in our communities. For almost twenty years those services have included OBGYN care in St. Lucie County, Okeechobee County, and most recently, Martin County. FCHC began providing OB care due to a limited access to these services for the most vulnerable patients in these communities. Though our commitment to continuing these services has not wavered, unexpected developments require that we begin to provide OBGYN care in a different manner at this time.

In order to deal with a shortage of OB physicians and physician backup in St. Lucie and Martin Counties, we will be working in partnership with the OBHG – OB Hospitalist Group at both Lawnwood Regional and St. Lucie Medical Centers. We will also continue to work closely with Physicians to Women (PTW), which you may be aware, will begin performing deliveries at St. Lucie Medical Center. We are communicating continuously with Cleveland Clinic/Martin Memorial as they work to secure OBGYN coverage for the Martin North location.

FCHC will continue to provide pre-natal care at all current locations. As of October 1st, however, all deliveries will be performed at Lawnwood Regional Medical Centre and St. Lucie Medical Center.
We understand the challenge this may present to patients who would usually deliver at Cleveland Clinic/Martin North, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience resulting from this transition. At present, we believe that the level and compliment of services available at these hospitals will create the safest experience for our new moms, babies, and staff.

During this transition we will communicate continuously and transparently with our patients and community partners to make the process as smooth as possible. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work with all parties involved to ensure that FCHC patients continue to receive the high quality, cost effective care they have come to expect over the last forty-three years.
