WEST PALM BEACH, FL.- April 1, 2018 – Florida Community Health Centers, Inc. (FCHC), a leader in Florida’s primary and preventive healthcare, is pleased to announce the appointment of Wilhelmina Lewis, MD as President and Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Lewis will assume responsibilities on April 1, 2018 and will succeed Michael Gervasi, DO, who announced his retirement after 20 years of service to the organization.


“I have truly been blessed to work for an incredible organization with an amazing group of dedicated people,” said Michael Gervasi, D.O. “It has been an honor to help care for so many individuals and families, many of whom would not have been able to receive quality healthcare were it not for FCHC.”

Dr. Lewis has been part of the FCHC team for 15 years, beginning as a Family Practice Clinician at FCHC’s Fort Pierce Center followed by a promotion to Clinical Coordinator of that Center. In 2011, Dr. Lewis was promoted to Chief Medical Officer, overseeing the Clinical Teams at FCHC’s 12 health center locations. During that time she has received the Medical Care Provider of the Year Award, the Jessie L. Robinson Memorial Award and the President’s Award.

Dr. Lewis received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University; she went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and completed her fellowship training in Geriatrics. She served many years as chair of the St. Lucie County Diabetes Coalition, Associate Clinical Professor in Family Medicine for NOVA Southeastern University School of Medicine, and Associate Clinical Professor in Geriatrics for the Florida State University, College of Medicine. Since 2014, Dr. Lewis has held the position of Medical Director for the Florida Association of Community Health Centers (FACHC), the state’s primary care association. In 2015, Dr. Lewis was appointed a member of the Florida State Advisory Committee (SAC) to the United States Commission on Civil Rights, representing the State of Florida. Most recently, Dr. Lewis joined the Board of Directors for the Lake Okeechobee Rural Health Network.
