Kiara Johns is a board-certified family psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP), with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP). She is passionate about providing empathetic, quality, evidence-based care to her patients in a timely and efficient manner. She has nearly ten years of experience in the mental health field as a nurse and nurse practitioner working with children and adults in various settings including inpatient, outpatient, urgent care, emergency care, and telehealth settings. She began her career in 2013 as a registered nurse on an acute inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit. Kiara continued to work in the acute inpatient setting with children and adolescents until 2016, at which time she completed her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and began working in the psychiatric emergency room at one of the largest children’s hospitals in Alabama. She transitioned to the outpatient setting, working with the child and adolescent population in 2017, and later transitioned to working with adults in a psychiatric urgent care setting from 2018 to 2021. She has worked in the telepsychiatry setting with adult patients since late 2021.
