Pharmacy Manager
Position Summary: The Pharmacy Manager, also referred to as Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC), is responsible for the overall safety and
security of the pharmacy facility and its operation. The Pharmacy Manager will oversee all day-to-day processes and maintain accountability for the general supervision of the pharmacy staff; provide direct supervision of the processes involved in dispensing and preparing medication; give pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care teams; and monitor patient drug therapies. The Pharmacy Manager ensures compliance with the Federal Drug Administration mandates and self-imposed manufacturer restrictions.
enforces all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of pharmacy; and adheres to and enforces Florida Community Health Centers (FCHC) policies and procedures. The Pharmacy Manager functions as the head of the pharmacy location at his/her practice site and reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Serve as pharmacist on duty in assigned locations
- Must perform medication reconciliation and document any clinical interventions in the patient’s electronic medical record according to established policies and procedures
- Support the pharmacy team by executing on daily tasks, setting priorities to maximize contribution and building rapport with customers and FCHC employees
- Assist with completing clinical prior authorizations or recommend more cost-effective therapeutic options as appropriate
- Maintain knowledge of drug formularies
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of pharmacy technicians as well as scheduling for the assigned location.
- Orders and maintains appropriate inventory controls.
- Prepare monthly reports of fiscal operations as advised and assist with evaluating business performance of assigned location
- Within the guidelines of the authorized protocol, manage the stock and designated 340b medications.
- Supports the safe and rational use of prescription medications and monitors patient medication compliance and over/under usage patterns.
- Manage rejected claims, conduct gross margin analysis and generate reports for management.
- Maintains a professional appearance and provides exceptional customer service among patients and peers.
- Provides value through patient counseling, offering pharmacist led clinical services and or recommendations to improve health and wellness
- Execute on pharmacy initiatives at any assigned locations
- Use responsible judgment and keep team members on task
- Execute on routine and complex prescription processing serving as subject matter expert on pharmacy operations
- Perform comprehensive medication reviews to identify, resolve and prevent medication related problems, including adverse drug events
- Provide medication therapy alternatives upon clinician request
- Complete MTM opportunities in third party population-based platforms like Outcomes MTM and Mirixa
- Promote and/or administer immunizations
- Communicate clearly both in writing and verbally with children, adults, health care team members, families, and staff.
- Identify systems specific problem, which requires evaluation and/or change; work with appropriate staff to resolve these issues by participating in performance improvement processes
- Attend clinic, department meetings and trainings as directed by the Director of Pharmacy
- Maintain a flexible work-week schedule in order to meet changing demands
- Continuously model and exhibit support for the FCHC mission and goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Must possess a B.S. or Pharm.D from an accredited program, i.e., Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
- Must have passed the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination.
- Clear/active license to practice pharmacy in the State of Florida.
- Must be immunization certified
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacy management experience preferred.
- MTM certification or experience preferred
