Position Summary: The Director of Nursing is responsible for leading and supervising the Nurse Leaders who oversee the Clinical Support Staff. This position is ultimately responsible and accountable for the nursing services, education, and oversight across the organization.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Model and advance Florida Community Health Centers’ mission, vision, and values.
  • Direct, oversee, and evaluate (90 day and Annual) all nursing personnel (RN, LPN, etc.)
  • In partnership with Center Leadership and Human Resources, will recruit for, hire, and fire Nursing Staff across the organization.
  • Lead monthly Nurse Supervisor Meetings and keep the Nursing staff up‐to‐date on new process,
  • changes, or plans.
  • In partnership with the CMO and Assistant‐CMO, will ensure that the centers maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations (Joint Commission, HRSA, VFC/VFA, OSHA, DOH, etc.)
  • Will review and update (when needed) the OSHA, Infection Control (will be Co‐Chair), and Employee Health Manual on a yearly basis.
  • Will be an active member of the Infection Control Committee and CQM Committee, as well as hoc member of other committees as needed.
  • Provide orientation and manage ongoing training, in conjunction with Nurse Supervisors, for newly hired FCHC clinical Support staff.
  • Monitor Center Nurse Supervisor’s compliance with periodic assessments to determine deficiencies in clinical support performance at all sites and for new hires. Includes but not limited to: Log Keeping, Skills Assessments, Policies and Procedures, Medication Program (formulary compliance, in‐house samples, and stock medications for expiration dates)
  • In conjunction with the Nurse Supervisors, will coordinate Clinical Support Staff coverage at centers when the need presents itself.
  • Attend and be an active participant at Corporate Staff, QI, Clinical Administrator, and Monthly Administrative meetings as indicated monthly or as scheduled.
  • Initiate annual Infection Control Risk Analysis, compile data and present to the QI Committee.
  • In conjunction with the HR department, compile summary of new employee health information and annual updates as indicated, including annual PPD tests, Influenza Vaccines, etc.
  • Provide oversight and updated information about the VFC Program needed to maintain VFC compliance.
  • Will provide coverage for centers who do not have a Nurse Supervisor, either personally or will arrange for coverage by other Nurse Supervisors.
  • Serve as Company Liaison with Florida Shots
  • Establish and maintain emergency vaccine plan and assure that vaccines are stored safely during hurricanes or other emergency situations.
  • In conjunction with appropriate Center Leadership Members, determine the appropriateness of having MA, Nursing, EMT, or other non‐clinician students in the center, and communicate with the schools instructors as indicated.
  • Assist CMO with other issues as necessary.

  • RN degree/license (active), with MBA/MPH preferred
  • Minimum of two years Nursing Leadership experience
