Director of Finance & Controller
Position Summary: The Director of Finance, Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for supervising all financial activities including accounting, financial reporting, grant management, budgeting, treasury, IRS and financial policy compliance, payroll, financial systems risk management, coordinating the annual financial statement audit, forecasting, accounts payable, team leadership and communication
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing and executing the monthly close process.
- Ensures all GL accounts are reconciled and reviewed prior to monthly journal entry postings in the GL package (Microsoft Dynamics GP).
- Performs timely review of internal financial statements to ensure all accounts are reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Ensures grant accounting is performed in accordance with federal accounting and procurement standards.
- Serves as the organization’s Microsoft Dynamics GP and ReqLogic administrator
- Collaborates with the Assistant Controller on the development of “desk procedures” for each position inside the Finance Department.
- Informs and ensures compliance with department internal control standards.
- Oversees all treasury and bank account reconciliation activities including but not limited to managing bank account access rights, performing routine transfers of funds out of local depository accounts into corporate concentration account(s), authorizing ACH transactions, ensuring positive pay files are uploaded for every disbursement, and ensuring all bank accounts are reconciled to subsidiary ledgers.
- Collaborates with the Director of Revenue Cycle Management on monthly Patient Service Revenue accounting and monitoring procedures.
- Manages monthly Medicaid and Medicare wrap submissions.
- Monitors profitability across a variety of service-line and payment mechanisms: cost based, FFS, and capitation, among others.
- Prepares accurate and complete Medicaid and Medicare cost reports and financial statement audit
workpaper packages. - Supervises payroll including ensuring employees are paid accurately and timely basis, and that all positions are supported in the Position Control organization process. Oversees payment of employer and employee payroll taxes, production of year-end and ad hoc payroll reports.
- Works closely with the Director of Operations to provide financial analysis support/guidance to all center leaders, so that they can maximize opportunities and address adverse financial trends.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of timely UDS reports, FSR reports, Grants, PMS 272, budgets,
and contract proposals - Supports the CFO on directing and completing the Planning, Forecasting and Budgeting processes
- Evaluates internal controls and establish and enforces policies and procedures necessary to meet these internal control objectives.
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with managers, supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
- Presents financial results in management and Board meetings in the CFO’s absence
- Assists with in-service training on Finance and Accounting policies updates staff on policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Minimum Requirements (experience, training, and education): To effectively fulfill this position, candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, or a combination of course work and applicable work experience.
- Minimum of four years of accounting experience with a working knowledge of computer systems. (Two of these four years should be in healthcare.)
- CPA preferred.
- Must demonstrate advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and be able to teach others.
