Position Summary:

The Chief Medical Officer oversees the Clinical operations of our Health Centers. The CMO ensures that the Health Centers provide the highest quality clinical care and works with other C-Suite and Senior Leadership Team members to ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Modeling and advancement of Florida Community Health Centers’ mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide counsel and support to CEO regarding clinical functions of the organization, including determinations regarding established or potential policies and procedures.
  • Provide clinical guidance and oversight for the clinical decision-making aspects of the Clinical Services provided.
  • Strategic formulation, leadership, and development of the clinical functions of the organization for the purpose of maximizing the organization’s clinical performance, efficiency, and cost- effectiveness; fulfilling organizational goals and objectives; and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and industry level regulations. This includes clinical care in all medical specialties and Behavioral Health, pharmacy, lab, Clinical Support Services, and Care Management. Responsibility for oversight of clinical decision-making aspects of the program and provides clinical guidance to all clinical staff and for all clinical functions.
  • Strategic partnership with the QI/QA/Compliance function of the organization for the purpose of maximizing the organization’s clinical performance, achieving organizational goals and objectives, and supporting the work of organization’s Quality and Compliance programs, while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and industry level regulations.
  • Support and partner with the health center designated individual (s) to oversee the QI/QA program established by board- approved policies. Support and assist as necessary with responsibilities, which include but are not limited to, ensuring the implementation of QI/QA operating procedures and related assessments, monitoring QI/ QA outcomes, and QI/QA operating procedures.
  • Strategic partnership with the Business intelligence function of the organization for the purpose of maximizing the organization’s financial performance, achieving organizational goals and objectives, while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and industry level regulations.
  • Partnership with the FCHC’s Senior HR Director in strategically engaging Clinicians and staff for maximum retention of high performers and elevation of performance of all Clinical staff.
  • Partnership with the FCHC’s Senior HR Director in strategically positioning the organization’s recruitment and credentialing functions to maximize access to care and organizational revenue by ensuring that FCHC Clinicians and staffing are at maximum levels needed for appropriate access and appropriately credentialed, both internally and externally.
  • Partnership with the FCHC’s Senior HR Director, CEO and CFO in strategically executing the Employee Benefit and Worker’s Compensation Programs.
  • Strategic Partnership with FCHC’s COSI and Director of Value Based Services/QI/QA to achieve organizational goals in the area of Value Based Care and Population Health.
  • Partnership with members of the Senior Leadership Team and staff to ensure successful retention of HRSA Federally Qualified Designations, Joint Commission Accreditation, PCMH recognition, and FTCA deemed status.
  • Provides leadership and supervision for the Director of Nursing and Clinical leaders of FCHC.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships via effective communication and collaboration with FCHC Leadership, staff, stakeholders, and business contacts.
  • Facilitate, in conjunction with HR and other leadership, training for Clinicians and Clinical staff that ensures the ability to provide high quality patient care.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Must possess a medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited program and licensed to practice the profession of Medicine in the State of Florida.

  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills with leadership, staff, and stakeholders
  • Excellent Time Management and Problem Solving Abilities
  • Board Certification in area of Specialty
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years in Clinical Leadership Role
  • Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field highly desirable.
